Marcelo Ventura is a self-taught illustrator and comic artist born in Rio de Janeiro. His work is recognised for its expressive, caricature-driven style, strongly influenced by American comics of the 1990s.
Working primarily with traditional media, Marcelo’s creative process incorporates mixed techniques including ink, markers, coloured pencils, and watercolour. His illustrations are distinguished by dramatic contrasts of light and shadow and dynamic, energetic compositions.
Marcelo is also known for his dark reinterpretations of classic pop culture characters. Blending nostalgia, humour, and personal interpretation, this approach has earned him significant engagement on social media as well as features on international art and pop culture websites.
He currently works professionally on international commissions, exclusive covers, concept art, and original illustrations for collectors.
